In 2007, I recorded a cover of ‘Stay Another Day’ by the U.K. boy band East 17. It was never ‘officially’ released – until now!
It seems fitting to release it this year, as it is 30 years since E17 hit the Official UK Christmas Chart No1 (in 1994).
I always genuinely loved the original song, it reminded me of early Spiritualized. This version was made using my old 16 Track hard disk recorder, a Yamaha RM1x groovebox and Yamaha SU 10 sampler. No computers were involved. It has a simplicity to it, which is something I still love after all these years.
As if that isn’t enough, the track is also getting a physical release courtesy of Sonic Cathedral! It is featured on the 20th Anniversary CD box set, ‘Celebrate Yourself! The Sonic Cathedral Story’, due out on 6 December.
