It is hard for me to put into words just how much of an influence Plaid have had on me and my music from a very early age, and right through my career. They are one of the true pioneers of electronic music, always pushing boundaries with every release. Their music encouraged me to start fiddling around with a 4-Track Cassette Recorder way before I started making music as Maps, and their incredible albums continue to inspire me to this day.

So it was an absolute honour that Andy and Ed agreed to remix ‘Transmission’! It is a magnificent and haunting reworking of the original track. ‘Transmission’ is probably one of the most melancholically uplifting tracks on ‘Counter Melodies’, and Plaid have really pushed that feeling and created something completely magical.

The squelching bassline propels the pulse of the mix and the detuned synths float in and out like waves of memories. Plaid have lent a depth of emotion to the remix that is really striking and stays with the listener long after it fades. I am so grateful to Andy and Ed for this reworking, it is sublime! 🙏🙏

The first single, ‘Bend The Round’, is OUT NOW!

It has been hard to keep this one under wraps, and very exciting to be announcing today!

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Emma, who I have admired for many years as a wonderful songwriter and musician. The album was recorded at Maps HQ during the baking heat of last Summer, and then worked on remotely for the final production.
It also features the beautiful guitar playing of Richard Oakes (from the band Suede), who it was also a huge honour to get the opportunity to work with!

The album was mastered beautifully by the fantastic Heba Kadry.
The stunning artwork and design is by the hugely talented Stuart Jones and Marc Jones
